
Precision Machining Engineers [PME] (Harrow) Limited was established in 1956 and became a limited company in 1958. The company was founded by Malcolm Craig, a resident of Harrow and initially provided a range fo engineering services to local business.
As the company grew, it concentrated on local making and plastic injection moulding in particular and as a consequence, was able to supply products and components for such things as medical and musical instruments, gardening equipment and the motor trade.
PME earned a reputation for producing high quality, which lead to the gaining of lucrative contracts from the defence industry.
In the early 1970's PME first became involved in cake decorating and were asked by the Army Catering Corps in Hampshire to produce 2,000 stainless steel royal icing rulers. Other products ideas soon followed leading to the formation of PME Sugarcraft Ltd.
In addition to products for use with royal icing, PME began to manufature items for use with sugarpaste and marzipan.
One of the most popular items ever to be introduced was the miniature flower blossom plunger cutter, which are still available today and can be found in the kit boxes of most cake decorators.
Other products which have earned PME the reputation as the leading manufacturer of quality cake decorating equipment are their very recognisable yellow handed modelling tools, seamless stainless steel icing tubes and crimpers, textured rolling pins, tilting turntable and plunger cutter ranges.
PME exhibits at international trade shos and continues to develop new products, which are distributed worldwide.
Our International School is one of the largest independent cake decorating schools in the UK and regularly attracts studetns from around the world. The Masters Certificate in Sugar Arts & Crafts will only be awarded as and when all three Professional Diploma Modules have been completed. Participants are to complete a 3-tier cake using all 3 mediums which are taught in each modules.

Discover the process of making sugarpaste and using this medium to coat cake drums, cakes and cake board. Explore the excitement and innovation skills in you with the art of crimping and embossing. Learn to put fabrics on your cakes with drapes, frills, ribbons, bows and sugar embroideries. Model fun figurines with sugarpaste and let your imagination lead your talents. Various cake designing skills will be introduced, colour balance and handling will be taught. Best of all is you take home your completed masterpieces every week. Basic business and guidelines skills will be shared to you.

Introducing you to the next medium of cake decorating which is the gum paste flowers. You will explore the techniques of unwired and wired flowers; various fantasy flowers, roses, orchids, lilies, cherry blossom, gerbera, chrysanthemum, freesia, dahlia, garden pink, foliages and blackberries. Every week, you will take home one sugar flower arrangement. Stands and cake knife decoration will be introduced in this module. Costing and Pricing of sugar flowers will be taught to you. Flower arrangment from foliages alone will make you amazed all the way to the various flowers introduced each week.

The final medium of cake decoration for this series of Professional Diploma takes you to Royal Icing. Royal Icing was made known of it's hardness and uses. You will explore a lot more advance techniques such as scroll borders, run out, collars & motifs, brush embroidery, lace design and extension borders. Gear your hands and enjoy this piping weeks and you will be impressed by the art of what Royal Icing can create for you. Advanced Business Skills will be shared with you. Each inidividual will assemble their presentation to be taken home each week.
