1) How come the orders has to be 3 days in advance?
I do not store any cakes and I believe in giving you the best therefore a 3 days advance booking is essential. I believe in giving you the best quality. Eventhough, the order is placed a week or more in advanced, your cake will only be made 3 days before hand.
The other reason whhy 3 days is because cakes are like us human too and they need a day to rest before we can ice and decorate them on the final day before the event takes place.
2) How long can the cakes from Black Forest Tavern be stored?
I would say generously an hour.. Why so? Well our bistro cakes serves generously 12 and it is definitely finished during the event hahahha.... If you are seeking to keep the cake, it is best to be kept for 4-5 days after the day of the event.
3) What are the standard sizes of your bistro cakes?
They all come in 9" round or 8" square for standard bistro cakes.
4) Are the cakes Halal?
Well, this is a very subjective question. I can only say that it is pork FREE. I don't use pork in any of my cakes and furthermore I don't cook with the baking utensils.
5) Is there a transportation fee for delivery of cakes?
There will be a RM30.00 charge for cakes delivery within Mt. Kiara, Sri Hartamas, Bangsar, Pantai Hillpark, Damanasara Heights, Section 13, 14, 8, 17, 19, Damansara Jaya, ss2, ss3, ss4, Kelana Jaya, Ara Damansara, Saujana Subang, Damansara Kim, Damansara Utama, Tropicana, Bandar Utama, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Damansara Perdana, Bandar Manjalara and Kepong.
1) How many days in advance, do we need to place an order for a wedding or anniversary cake?
This is a very subjective question, of course it will be best if you book in advance if you are seeking a good date. I have clients whom book like 6 months - 12 months in advance. If during low season 7-9 days in advance is good. If you require gum paste flowers, then I would suggest at least 2 weeks in advance as the flowers takes time to dry.
I receive a lot of overseas wedding cake placement where they will come to KL for their wedding and these couples book very much in advance.
2) How come you don't take many orders in a day?
I only take in the most 3 wedding cakes per day. I would rather reject then to just accept it unlimitedly. I rather giive you my master piece then to have someone's work being claim as mine. I believe in giving the personal touch
3) How come your stands and figurine are on rental?
The stands I bring in are from overseas and most of them are collectors item. There will be a deposit collected and refundable upon returning my stands or cake toppers.
4) Why is the transportation charge so expensive?
There will be a RM100.00 transportation charge for wedding cakes delivery to any where within Klang Valley. This will include also the workmanship to set up the cake in the venue, parking fees and my travelling time cost.
5) Do you do any cakes for corporate functions?
Yes, I have done cakes for company like Fuji Xerox, ING Insurance, Ernst & Young, Hartford, CIMB, Isuzu and Mindshare Co. for their department celebration, secretary week and corporate function.
6) Why don't you reccommend fresh flowers for cakes?
There are clients whom insists that I use fresh flowers and I will do provided you sign a document to govern the safety of your guests. Fresh flowers in Malaysia are very heavily dressed with pesticide and pollens from the flowers are poisonous. I would not want to put something on a cake which I have no confidence with. Unknown chemical reaction could lead to death and I am sure we do not want this to be the limelight of our happy celebrations.
7) Why don't you reccommend cold porcelain flowers for wedding cakes?
They are very nice flowers to look at or put at home as decorations. I do not reccommend using cold pocelain flowers with cakes because two of the ingredients involved are baby oil and white school glue. I would prefer cold porcelaine flowers as a competition centre piece rather than to have it in contact with food.
